Well, actually, it’s not so much the “computer” for seniors, rather it’s the monitor that should be pretty important to seniors. But, no matter, I have done research on three great desktop computers that should serve anyone’s needs, especially seniors, whether you are pursuing writing as a hobby, or whether you wish to begin building residual income.
First of all, let me explain how this research came to be. In addition to occasionally posting to this blog, I have another. That one is about building passive income and wealth, and I did some preliminary research on computers mainly because I’ll be in the market myself very soon. Seeing that both my mom and I write blogs, we will probably both be shopping around soon for good quality, reliable, computers – yet again.
The “Old” Sony Vaio Tower
Both my mom and I bought our Sony Vaio’s at the same time, somewhere around 15 years ago. They are both still going strong. They were $800 bucks each, and it was the best $800 bucks we ever spent! We each have an old Sony Vaio tower with an Intel Processor, a CD Drive, a Read/Write Drive, and I have inserted memory sticks in each almost as high as they can go. But, even with additional memory, they are both limited to about 760 MB of RAM (short for Random Access Memory.) And, that’s the problem.
Nowadays, if you’re going to write, submit articles, write an e-book, visit or guest write on blogs, or even if you’re going to dabble in photography or videos, you do need a more powerful computer with much higher short term memory as well as the a large hard drive – to hold all those files.
My preliminary research takes into consideration my preference for pc’s, as opposed to Apple products. I just don’t have the time to swap my whole mindset over to Apple, and how they work. It’s just more efficient, for me, to stay with products that I know. In addition, I am not a big fan of “all in one” computers, nor do I think it’s wise to be working on a laptop – unless you have it up high enough so that you’re not hunched over, and you have a wireless full size keyboard. Therefore, my preferences focus only on pc desktop towers which allow users to obtain whatever size monitor or number of monitors they want.
I also have another preference in that the only manufacturer I’ll be considering is Asus. There are some that do come close in quality, but seeing that many mid-range personal computers are similarly priced, I may as well just stick with Asus and get, what I consider to be, the best. They have a wide range of different computers and memory sizes, and what you intend to use it for will help determine what size and features you will need.
Best Computer for the Money
As mentioned, I have conducted preliminary research, and I came across one of the best bang for your buck computers here. It is the Asus M32AD-US032S. This product is a mid-range computer, and is just below $1,000. There are lower end models to choose from, and there are higher models, but this one has the memory and features I’m looking for. In fact, this is my top pick, so far.
If you do head over to Amazon, you’ll also see this pc is Rated a 4 out of 5 stars, and there are numerous Reviews as well from satisfied customers. Amazon also allows for free shipping as well.
So, if you’re thinking of writing as a hobby, or if you’re building a residual income business, this computer should serve you very well.
Another top pick worth mentioning, according to PCMag.com, is another Asus, Model number M51AC-US015S. This is also just under $1,000 price point, and it is well worth consideration. Unfortunately, I could not find the associated link for this model on Amazon. I am not sure if it’s temporarily out of stock, or if Amazon doesn’t carry it. Either way, that is the Model number if you wish to conduct some research of your own.
My final pick is for those who need a little more memory for gaming, photography, and even videos. According to PCMag, the Editor’s Choice goes to Asus M70AD-US003S. It is pricier, but should easily perform gaming and graphic capabilities for those who may get into photography, videos, or gaming, in addition to writing. Here’s a quick video for the M70AD below:
I certainly hope you enjoyed this post. Please feel free to share your thoughts on any other computer manufacturer or model that interests you along with the intended purpose of your future purchase. Those of us who write would be interested!
